Buying and Selling at Auction

Auctions give you the chance to bid competitively against others on items that you usually cannot find in a retail environment. Auctions can be very exciting and it's important not to get carried away! Below are some guidelinnes for what you can expect.
Selling

The sales process with us is very simple. Send us a list of what you have using the contact form and we will give you a free, no obligation valuation. These valuations are subject to alteration once we have physically inspected the wines or spirits. We can also do cellar visits for larger consignments. If you choose to go ahead then the wines must all come to our warehouse for processing and sale, unless you hold both a personal and premises licence, in which case you may use our online service. Selling fees are also simple - a listing fee of £5 per lot which covers all the charges levied by our warehouse, plus photography and 12.5% plus VAT sellers premium. We are very reasonable people and these rates are negotiable for higher value collections. Once the wines are with us, we do everything from there, placing your items into the appropriate sale and agreeing reserves where applicable. We typically expect to be able to remit funds within 14 days of the auction ending, sooner if we can. Remittance will be done by bank transfer.
Buying at the live Sale

You have four ways to bid with us, so it is easy to take part even if you cannot be there on the day. Our sales take place at 67 Pall Mall in London, please let us know if you would like to attend on the day. You can also bid by telephone, again just contact us to apply. You can leave commission bids either by using the commission bid form or by entering them online. Finally and easiest of all, you can bid live online using our bidding platform.
Buying in the timed online sale

Simplicity itself - once you have registered and been accepted, all you need to do is login and place a bid at whatever level you want. The sales will automatically extend if a new bid is placed within 2 minutes of the auction ending, so there is no 'sniping' and everyone gets a fair chance to buy the lot they are looking for.
