SELLING WINE AT AUCTION

The Trusted Specialist Wine Auctioneer

Since Chris Hambleton founded Bacchus Wine Auctions in 2016, we have been fully focused on putting wine at the heart of every auction that we run. We bring a completely personal, specialised and transparent approach to each and every one of the relationships we have with our sellers.

Trusted Wine Sales for the Savvy Wine Collector

We make the auction process for our sellers as straightforward & easy as possible, from valuation, through to final sale with a success bid.

All you need to do to start is to send us a list of what you have using the contact form here and we will give you a free, no obligation wine valuation. These valuations are subject to alteration once your consignment has arrived with us and we have physically inspected the wines or spirits. We can also offer cellar visits for larger consignments and we deal with both Duty Paid and In Bond wines.

Our bonded warehouse facility means you can transfer wines to us under bond from anywhere in the UK with no need to pay the duty and VAT. If you choose to go ahead  and sell your wine through us then the wines must all come to our warehouse for processing and sale ahead of the auction. We can arrange your collection for you if you need us to.

Seller Fees

Our selling fees are transparent and comprise of two elements:

  • A listing fee of £2 per lot which covers all the charges for the warehousing of your wine whilst it is in our care, plus high resolution photography to support its listing in our catalogue

  • And up to 15% commission, plus VAT, sellers premium

The commission charged depends on the amount of wine you consign to us, and its value.

Pre-Auction Information

All the wines sold through Bacchus Wine Auctions are fully inspected for authenticity and quality before sale. In line with UK licensing legislation, they must come into our warehouse on consignment in order to be sold at one of our auctions. Our timed online auction sales will generally feature smaller or more unusual wine and spirit lots.

Generally, premium wines go into our live auction sales, as long experience has affirmed that some wines suit certain sales methods better than others. This allows our team to best represent your wine when at auction and attract the right interest from the right buyers

Once your wines are with us, we do everything from there, placing your items into the appropriate sale and agreeing reserves, if applicable. We typically expect to be able to remit funds within 21 working days of the auction ending, and aim for sooner if we can. Remittance will be made by bank transfer.

For a free, no obligation valuation of your wine or spirits please use the contact form here.

It’s important that you understand the full terms & conditions for selling through an auction. Please read these here before participating.
